As some of you know, I don't have a computer right now. I probably won't be getting it until next Friday-ish, so Comic #70 likely won't be around for awhile. Since I don't have access to my usual drawing program, the original idea for #69 will be pushed off to #71. Tonight's update is more of an "I'm still alive" thing. A couple half-baked ideas that weren't worthy of their own comics.

In other news, I'll probably be getting a summer job soon. We'll see how that affects my updating. Also, a few weeks back I was messing with some PHP and XML and stuff, so now the retrospective commentaries from the older comics are back up in the archives. They were taken down when I redid the site. I'll probably look into revamping the old Downloads section next.

Wow! I'm on time for two updates in a row! That's gotta be some kinda record. This comic has a problem that is very common for me: I've got everything planned out and good to go except for the punchline. I'm very bad at coming up with punchlines, for some reason. I should really pay some guy to come in and write JUST the last panels for all my comics.

Anyway, I don't want to be spamming the forums every update, but right now they're young, and need... nurturing. So check 'em out. They're actually not dead yet.

Also, here's something sorta neat. It's a collage of some of my drawings of Eevee from March 13th, 2005 to late 2008. Start at the top and go across the first two rows, then after that sorta spiral inwards clockwise. The little one in the middle staring at the camera is the newest one. Yeah, I make great viewing methods. Man. That first Eevee is awful awesome.

Woo! The site redesign is done! Well, not to the extent that I had wanted. It's been scaled-back quite a bit. But hey, I was getting tired of the old look, so this is an improvement. In addition to the obvious visual differences and the new forum, there's a few things under the hood that you'll never notice but will help me. For instance, the comics are now on a php page, so now I can use one page for them instead of seventy.

There's still some stuff that needs to be worked on. I'm trying out different comic frames to see what looks good with the site, and the commentaries on some of the older comics in the archive will be down until I figure the best way to work them into the php. If you're one of the rare people who actually visited this main section of the site for the Stepmania and 4x4 Evolution stuff, never fear. It's still there, you'll just have to access it through http://pennyracers.frih.net/downloads.shtml. For those of you who don't know, that used to be the main section of the site, while the comics were stuck in their little subdomain. But the comic is now vastly more popular than those couple of downloads, so I decided to put it in the spotlight. I had wanted both sections to peacefully coexist, but I'm still thinking of a way to work that into the navigation without it being cluttered or confusing.

Yesterday I noticed that I had screwed up the date I'd given for the redesign, saying "Saturday the 12th", a date that... doesn't exist right now. So if the forums are dead, it's either because half the people haven't shown up yet, or people just don't like forums. I'll be active for most of the day, since I now have to scour the internet for every mention of my website and correct the link. On the bright side, the comic is on schedule! That's pretty amazing.

At first glance, it appears that this comic is up late. It is not the weekend! However, relatively speaking, it's right on schedule. The last comic was uploaded exactly two weeks ago. Hey, I'm getting better! I was going to make a comic that was actually decent, but then I remembered that I hadn't done the obligatory 'New Season!' comic yet. I may discontinue these next year, unless I have a really great idea for one.

I've been working on the updated site design a lot lately, and I think I'm gonna upload what I have on Saturday, April 12th, whether I have a comic to go with it or not. I haven't been able to include everything I wanted so far, but right now most of the main pages are good to go, the forum is ready, and I should be able to redo the Characters page by that time. I really wanted to finish EVERYTHING and have a huge overhaul, but I'm getting bored with this current design. Mark your calendars! April 12th! First twenty forum members get a useless badge under their name! And those are just great.

Okay! Story arc done. I know it's kinda late, but I didn't realize how many panels this was gonna wind up being. These jokes always seem to go faster in my head... Lately I've been trying to draw Eevee's mouth a little more realistically, instead of weird and off to the side like I used to. It's getting a little better, I suppose, though it isn't all that apparent with the small panel size. I've been thinking about posting the comics in .svg format to allow zooming and other cool features, but that would alienate users of Internet Explorer, which doesn't support .svg all too well. You guys should totally get Firefox or something. Actually, Opera is the browser with the best .svg support, allowing animations, buttons, and other cool Flash-like stuff. But I like Firefox, for it has a cooler name.

As far as the upcoming site overhaul is concerned, I'd like to have something up by te next update or the one after it. It might not be complete, but I'm getting bored with the current look of the place. Also, here's a Spearow. I made that thing months ago, but realized I had forgotten to put it up in the art secton. Oh, hey, we've finally had enough updates since I added the RSS feed that they're actually listed in date order! Good stuff.
